Farmers' Market 10th September 2006

When the sun eventually shone, which some customers had confidently predicted would happen, the Farmers' Market was once again enjoyed by both stall holders and customers. Mr Nigel Ing, the market organiser, once again pays tribute to customers who came as usual despite a grey start to the day. 'Their support is excellent' says Nigel 'and we must acknowledge how much we appreciate them.' So once again, to the Farmers ' Market customers, both old and new, the stall holders say 'Thank you'.

Customers were delighted with the return of David and Anne Melmerby whose tip-top fresh vegetables must be the most reasonably priced anywhere! One customer who said that he had bought from David some of every type of vegetable on the stall was seen staggering over the village green with three huge carrier bags; a very satisfied customer. Richard Crawford, of Pickled Pink Preserves, bought a sack of beetroot from David for his gorgeous and popular Beetroot Relish.

Elsewhere today customers were pleased to find Weardale Soups offering warming, nourishing cups of soup. Weardale Soups pride themselves in using organic vegetables in their gluten-free soups which can of course be purchased for home consumption too. Expect also to find organic meats, farm produced poultry, pork and bacon, home-made cakes and puddings, pickles and preserves, fudge, organic vegetables, plants and lots more at Sedgefield Farmers' Market.

Customers were kind enough to understand that occasionally stallholders cannot attend due to personal reasons; Duane Patterson our fish seller will be back next month and is sorry if his customers were disappointed this time at his absence.

A full complement of stalls is planned for next month which will be on Sunday 14th October - see you there!
